the Khmer architect in Sukhothai where the original columnes OF
khmer TEMPLES were of square shape in accordance to Khmer TRADITION
AS in THE ANGKOR WATT TEMPLE,
the Thai cover these columnes with cement to covert
these Square shape columnes into Cylindrical columnes so to hide
the khmer original square columnes in Sukhothai .
Khmer territory included Surin , Burriram , Ratchasima ,Lop
Buri .

History of Lamphun
This small, quite town, too close to Chiang Mai to develop its own
tourists infrastructure, contains two very important 'wat' antd a
number of others, dating back to around the 10th century. Before King
Mangrai forcible annexed it, Haripunjaya, as both town and kingdom
were then called, was the most northerly outpost of the Dvaravati
civilasation, and its last stronghold. According to the Chamadivivamsa
and Jinakalamali chronicles, which evbraced tradition as well as
historical fact and may not be wholly accurate on this point, a
hermit, Vasudeva, founded the town in 661, and on his request the Mon
ruler of Lopburi in the central plains sent his daughter Chamathewi to
rule, Because of various dating problems associated with the
chronicles, it is now generally deld that the founding was at the
beginning of the ninth century.
Having subdued the local Lawa tribes, the Mon ruled this are without
challange until at least the 11th century, when they came into
conflict with the Khmers who had, by 1025 at the latest, taken over
Lopburi, The chronicles describe two wars between Haripunjara and
Lopburi about a century apart, but with many embellishments that may
be more legendary than factual. After the first war, the worn
apparently suffered a cholera epidemic around 1050, and the population
reportedly emigranted to the Mon area of lover Burma for six years.
The second war with Lopburi involved Haripunjaya's King Adityaraja,
who came to power around 1150. He supposedly attacked Lopburi but was
forced to flee back to Haripunjaya, where the Khmer troops laid siege,
They returned twice to attack the town, but without result.
Since these accounts may be partly imfginary, it is not known whether
or not Khmer hegemony prevailed at this distance from the capital of
Angkor. The lack of evidence from the Khner side, and lack or
achaeological remains, suggest that it was weak or non-existent, In
any case, by the mid-13th century Khmer power in the central plains
weadened and Thai rebellions took place at Si Satchanalai, Sukhothai
and elsewhere, Haripunjaya's independence, however,ended definitively
in 1281 when it was seized by the Tai King Mangrai
