Thaksin expresses doubt over reports of land encroachment by Thai Rak
Thai leaders


Caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra said Monday that he would
not protect leading Thai Rak Thai members if they encroach upon
forested lands on Koh Samui.

But Thaksin said he believed the reports that certain leading members
had encroached upon public lands on the tourist destination island in
Surat Thani were not true.

Thaksin said Natural Resources and Environment Minister Yongyuth
Tiyapairaj was investigating the reported encroachments.

Some time ago a Bangkok TV news crew went to, IIRC Kanchanaburi in a
helicopter, they flew around for ages and took aerial photographs and
filmed mansions being built there, it was abundantly clear that these
places were well inside the boundaries of a national park. There was
hell to play for a few weeks, politicians and other influential people
hurling accusations at each other, "full inquiries" "no one is above
the law" etc etc ad nauseum and then ... well ......Thais have a
saying for it.......
