Re: New BomBay- Dividing California

Orange,

Wherever you go in Northern CA from San Jose to Mountain View, you see
30% Indians, 20% Muslim, 40% Spanish, Asians and ;you don't really see
too many Black. You will see the Black in Southern State and mostly
East Coast and North to Detroit where cars are made.

"There is a shift in population in California since 1999. Most White
Americans move out because housing are too expensive. San Francisco
now are 90% Asians. Silicon Valley are dominated by well educated
Indians, who are mostly Software engineers. They have come to take
American hi tech jobs because they are smart and come from top
university in India; that Americans can't complete. In the Southern CA
are predominantly illegal Spanish alients who are uneducated and take
jobs that nobody wants. They make cash and send money back to Mexico.
Then they live on the welfare with free medical and child care,
education, etc. The Social Service know but don't report to the
Immigration.

So this is a new proposal to divide and conqure California. The Norh
Panhandle across the ocean from San Francisco and upper Sacramento
should remain as California, but it is a small state. Give San
Francisco to the Chinese. Then the Silicon Valley from San Jose to
Mountain View become East Bombay for Indians techies. they will set
their own government."

Khun Gina,

Gosh, you left out the Daly City area outside San Francisco which is at
least 50% Phillipines folks : maybe make that like Monaco ?

And the Samoan communities in SF and Sunnyvale : turn them into Autonmous
Republics in the USSR style ?

And the Vietnamese in SF and in the peninsula : another Autnomous Republic
?

And the substantial Hmong community in Modesto ? Hmongistan Autonomous
Republic ?

And the Sikhs in Watsonville, and the central valley of California, now
major land-owners and farmers : Khalistan Autonmous Republic ?

To all these folks, I would say :

"Welcome to California, welcome to the United States, founded by recent
immigrants, created on land stolen from long-ago immigrant native
populations by force and genocide; still, in many surprising ways, the land
of opportunity for immigrants, particularly those, like the Vietnamese, who
have a strong work-ethic, and value education and the future of their
children more than quick acquisition/adoption of the material trappings of
American affluence.

You ARE the future, and as states like California shift their population so
that Anglo-Whites are no longer in the majority, your contributions to
America can only help build the country, shape its future, and add your
valuable cultural and social differences to it, just as the English, Irish,
Eastern European, Jewish, Greek, Italian, and on and on, made the country
what it is.

It IS your country, and, particularly for those of you from Asia, it badly
needs the cultural heritage you carry with you infused into its mainstream
values."

Note : I left out reference to Black people because their immigrant
experience was so qualitatively different : and while one can make the
argument that while Black people in America are still the victims of
structural racism, and continue to constitute a large majority of the
poorest of the poor in large urban areas, culturally they are integrated
into American life."

I am reminded of a Mexican illegal named Manuel who was in the bed next to
me at San Jose's public hospital, Valley Medical Center, as I was recovering
from a hip replacement operation. He was a migrant farm worker laid up with
a bad case of amoebic infection of the liver.

Manuel and I talked a lot : he had put two children into college through
his hard work, and the work of his extended family. They are both American
citizens.

I'll never forget him.

Thanks to George Bush Sr., the number of public hospitals providing free
services to the indigent in California had, at that time, been reduced to
three. Was Manuel truly indigent ? Was I ? Well, let me put it to you this
way : if you appeared indigent, you got services from Stanford University's
best doctor/professors and their students. My hip replacement was supervised
by the Senior Stanford orthopedic professor and carried out by his senior
student : no American health insurance company, if I had health insurance
of the typical HMO type, would have paid for me to have such a level of
surgery at Stanford Hospital : in fact the insurance would have tried to
delay my surgery for years with denials of claims, saying I was too young,
that other therapies had not yet been fully used, etc.

But the nightmare of American health care : that's another story.
