do you think there is such a thing as Psychiatric illness?

is psychiatric illness some excuse invented for diminished liability or avoidance of liability?

is "psychiatric illness" (assuming there is such a thing) a product of individual or social forces? i mean: i can imagine if i have to live with some irritating maddafakka for many decades, i myself would become mentally ill, don't you think? [ maybe i am already mentally ill, thanks to all you guys? ]
