Is this merit policy flawed ?
The desired for good results drive parents... to enrol this kids
in play-school at the age of 2 yrs...to get tuition for this
kids in kindergartens...so the their kids can read and write,
do sums, recite the time table...before they enter formal
schools at 7 yrs. The parents wanted a head-start for
their kids. 'Giving kids a head start'...is NOT a fault..is
it a fault of our education system ?
Yes...living in a meritocracy society like Singapore
means competition...means we have to live under
tremendous pressure. Everyday of our life is subjected
to great stress.
It is the choice of our parents, our selves, and our
society at large.
However, we have the choice to opt out...to go to
a country where you can bum around on the beach,
don't have to compete, no pressure, don't have to work
and live on dole.
It is our choice...to each his own.
other words, the bst test is to see the outcomes from it.
For examples,
1. How many got the opportunity to get into the university here.
2. How many good jobs were taken away by foreign fakers of degrees or
other substandaard degrees from overseas univerisites.
3 Why is that smarter poly student cannot be classed as a engineer
here than a engineer who is from a substandard univerisity from thrid
world countries.
4 Why is that the education system of this first world's Singapore
that is so small with only 255 sq miles of area still cannot raise its
level quality of jobs and pays that can commensurate with those jobs
in the developed world.
5. If our educational system is good, why did 70% of outcomes of jobs
went to cheap foreigners from countries that have weak eudcational
system?.
6. If our educational system is so good, why did wall street in NY did
not employ our graduates.
7. If our educational system is so good, why did our pay cannot rise
to the same level of other first world standard.
8. If the eductional system of other first world countries are, let
say, "weak and lousy", why is it that our pay cannot rise to them if
our educational system is so good.
9 If our educational system is so good, why is that our graduates so
far produced nothing is produced from researches at Biopolis. In other
words, why there was no commercial products from researches and even
stem cell researches, and etc
10 and many more..
An outcome test is the best test of an educational system.
