UK vs Germany economic stimulus plan

I think Germany has got the right response towards the economic crisis.
Unlike UK spend and spend approach, Germany can afford to wait because its
high income tax system provides a very generous unemployment benefits, at
60% of previous salary, for up to a year. Women with child get slightly
more. Even a foreign worker or an expat can apply for unemployment benefits.
As far as 2005, Germany has 3 million unemployed, and it doesn't seem to
hurt them at all.
In contrast, UK unemployment benefits or jobseekers allowance is actually
very meagre, at 59 pounds per week for a person over age 25. For an
unemployed person below age 25, the allowance is even less, though they can
also claim housing benefits for free housing rent.
Hence you see Gordon Brown frantically trying rev up the UK economy by
spending because at the moment, having 1 million unemployed people plus
thousands of unemployed foreigners with no jobs and nothing to do is a
recipe for social breakdown and disorder.
Which model do Singapore aspire towards - A high tax high benefits model or
a low tax low benefits model ?
