Ten years ago I worked as a Security Guard in a hotel earning $1100. I left
the job to drive a taxi and earned on average $1700 a month. Due to failing
health, I stopped driving and decided to go back to Security job. Much to
my shock and disbelief, my former employer at the hotel offered me the same
job I did 10 years for $850. He emphasised that this figure is before CPF
deductions! Also, I have to clock 12 hours per shift instead of 8 hours as
before.
" Take it now!" he said. "There are lots of Malaysians eyeing for this job."
