Do you want to know who is LTAX?

I have tried, on several occasions, to sent letters to the Straits Time
referring to the letter "Was officer who went AWOL a Princeling?". However,
the editor explained to me that there are space constraint which did not
allow him to publish my letter. I will therefore post it here:

I refer to the letters "Was officer who went AWOL a
'Princeling'?".
It is understandable there be such speculations
about the accused due to the lack of information about
the case. I am writing to correct some misconceptions.
I know the accused. He is a young officer, age 23, who
has had an overall excellent military record and was
ranked highly during his operational tour.
He was punished by his superior officer to take 10
extra duties with regard to his offence. However,
since he was on an advanced officer course, his
superior officer decided that the punishment should
not be meted out until his course was completed.
I believe that his superior officers acted with the
discretion allowed them under the SAF Act in deciding
on the appropriate punishment.
The father of the accused is a warehouse manager and
the mother is a supervisor. I believe that this does
not constitute the profile of a "princeling."
