That is a brilliant idea!
Maybe we should also peg national servicemen
salaries to private sector pay!

Paying "top dollar" for "top talent" in the public sector that is pegged to
private sector's top earners' emoluments is difficult to accept.
Whereas the private sector pays "top dollars" for its "top" personnel, it
also makes "top dollars" to justify it. Say, for example the United Overseas
Bank makes billions which justify paying Chairman Wee SGD9.5 million last
year. But in the case of the public sector, do we expect the Ministry of
Health to make "top dollars"? Similarly, do we expect other ministries such
as Ministries of Education, Defence, Manpower, etc , etc, to make "top
dollars" too?
Paying public sector employees "top dollars" for "top talent" also
necessitates getting "top dollar" results from them too, isn't it?
But then, the public sector should not be a money making machinery which
would then squeeze every cent from the public in order to achieve top dollar
results.
