The dedicated line in between the ADSL modem and the nearest Telephone Exchange or Node Cabinet in a
nearby building. So the weak wireless signal between the computer and the modem may be caused by
interference from other frequencies or by someone else's computer riding on his the wireless carrier
signal. Or his wireless modem in having some technical problem or the wireless card in the computer
is having some technical problem.
I think many people had suggested changing the mother board, power supply, operating system, web
browser, email and news reader software. I think it is about time to change the computer owner.
Besides when I said that I was using the computer of the 1970s , it was not a reference to windows
3.1 . Windows only came in the 1990s or late 1980s. Back in the 1970s I think the speed used was
256 bits per second or around there.

He had said earlier that his computer has a wireless connection. Then this status indication is
probably the signal strength between his wireless card and the wireless Access Point/ ADSL
If such then it is not the indication of his internet speed between his computer and his ISP.
No I do not use wireless. I use Ethernet port. And no there is no indication at the right hand
corner of computer. I use the 1970s computer!
If strength is Very Poor it follows that speed will be very slow
too....so why does it fluctuate when it's using a dedicated
telephone line?
BTW it's already old joke to say one is still using Windows 3.1
and 14,400 kbps modem......
Anybody still using Apple II to surf?
