On Tuesday, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) lecturer Bryan Ngoi
Kok Ann - who chaired an immigration panel advising on citizenship
applications - pleaded guilty to two charges of knowingly giving
false information to the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB).
He tried to nullify his ex-lover's "scam marriage". Then, as the
two-year affair turned sour, he used his connections to urge the
authorities to prosecute her.
Ngoi, who was appointed as Citizenship Advisory Committee (CAC)
chairman on June 1, 2004, is a lecturer in NTU's Division of
Manufacturing Engineering. He also spearheads its nanotechnology
research. He was presented with a Public Service Medal five years ago
for his grassroots work in Yew Tee Citizens' Consultative Committee.
Married since 1985, he has four children.
How did a person like Bryan Ngoi get appointed chairman of the advisory
panel? Not only is he a bad character, he's also stupid. People can be
an expert in their chosen field but a complete idiot outside of it, and
Bryan Ngoi is a splendid example. The govt should not always be
dazzled by scholars.

Is Bryan Ngoi a scholar ?
