Oil price down, bus fare up?

Conference hears oil price drop prediction

The chairman of a major petroleum industry conference in Adelaide is
predicting the price of oil will fall well below $US70 a barrel.

Professor Ashok Khurana from Curtin University in Perth says there may
well be some short-term price spikes of up to $100 a barrel.

However he says over time there is no reason why the price of oil
should not fall.

"My expectation is that the prices will come down and they will tend to
fluctuate around the $40 to $50 mark for the next foreseeable future,"
he said.
