Re: Foreign Talent, see the whole picture

The question of foreign professionals is quite different - they are being
paid handsomely to sit in jobs that they simply sit in and leave the work to
the locals who are under them and get paid only a pittance of their
salaries.
But then foreign companies want to maintain some control with their own kind
and as such they send the driftwood and dead weights from their home country
to Singapore.

That is what Harry tells the unionists.

For e.g. Lim Swee Say categorised Foreign talents
into three categories - entrepreneurs, professionals
and those who take up jobs that Singaporeans don't
want. http://www.asiaone.com/st/st_20060907_44860.html

Singaporeans are not against the employment of foreigners
to be maids, cleaners, odd jobs labourers, constructions
workers, certain shipyards technicians.

As for professional,...it is a little dicey. There are tens of
thousands of Singaporean professionals graduating
from local and overseas universities every year. Why
should foreigners be given the jobs when Singaporean
professionals are jobless ?

When they can hire a foreign professional at half the pay,
u think the company will hire a Singaporean professional ?
