Will all these 'improvements' result better English
standards ?
The simple answer is an emphatic NO.
What is problem then ?
Let's face it. BBC English is NOT widely spoken
at home...Almost all children speak Mandarin, or their
mother tongues or Singlish at home and in school.
Many do not even practise English speaking in
class during English lesson.
In short, students learn English like other subjects
to pass Exams, ....NOT as a language for everyday
oral communication.
In this environment, whatever that is being done now
will NOT improve the standard of spoken English.
