Re: A solution to the causeway jams

You can be fined for bringing bak kua from Malaysia into Singapore, nothing to do with tax, it's banned.
As for cigarette, if the government give a tax discount of 50% , then there will be a longer queue.

Do away 3/4 tank and impose higher toll fee will benefit big car with bigger tank.

I think if Singaporean or Malaysian going through the Singapore custom volunteered to declare those cigarettes, bak kua or cooking oil, maybe the government can consider giving them 50% discount on tax.

As for the 3/4 fuel tank thing, just scrap it by changing a higher toll fee.

You must have miss the budget speech by BG Lee in May 2005. Didn't the

Maybe the garmen should employ whistle blowers to tell on cars that
bring in stuff without declaring. All that is required is for
passengers in the suspected car to poon_pee_pee and they will be
rewarded with points, that allow them go pass the checkpoints at their
own convenience, just like PPS club members ......

Actually the best way to stop the causeway jam is to raise toll surcharge to
S$20 per vehicle entering JB during public holidays, weekends and other peak
traffic conditions while scrapping the 3/4 fuel tank rule.

PPS Club members will pay only $17.50 and are allowed to bring their
cars across on an empty tank .......

One solution is for the MPs to raise the budget allocation for manpower
at the Causeway. With sufficient budget and training of loyal
Singaporeans, there will be security and efficiency. Raise the budget
and with the solution, no more traffic jams.
