Just when you think LTA was the worst Authority.

So what's the point of building 2 gigantic checkpoints when ICA claims they
already max out their manpower? Isn't this another casee of NKF wannabe?
Spending big public money on building big. Look at all those empty boots.
Look at all those unutilised computer terminals. Whose paying for those?

Read all the lame excuses and ideas LTA can come up below solve the
checkpoint jams. For some reason, Malaysia side have no problem employing
more manpower leh and therefore no jam on their side.

EVERY time David Lim gets stuck in a jam at the Tuas Second Link, he counts
the number of lanes that are open, the number of employees manning the
booths and records it on a note pad.

When he thinks that not enough personnel are deployed during peak hours, he
calls the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) to complain. When he
sees too many ICA officers during low-traffic hours, he advises the
authorities to conserve their resources for peak hours.

Mr Lim, 51, is obsessive. After all, his 20-year-old software business
hinges on his weekly visits to his Kuala Lumpur office.

ICA has told him that the jams are a result of a tighter security checks.
Even regular commuters agree that the current security climate makes that
necessary. So should ICA deploy more manpower?

There's a catch. Already, ICA is bursting at its seams.

"ICA is presently operating at the maximum of what its manpower can
undertake," it told Today in an email. "In fact, in anticipation of the
daily peak hours, weekends and holiday period, ICA officers have already
been required to frequently work overtime and off-duty officers are often
recalled."

Mindful of the problem, it is looking at increasing its staffing though
that will not solve the problem overnight as new recruits would need to be
trained first.
