By choice I do not live in an urban area; although I had some exposure
living in one during my youth. If you look at the phone book in the
area where I live you would probable notice that the last names listed
are the same ones you would likly have encountered in this area 100
years ago; names like Alexander, Boyd, Clark, Davidson, Elliott,
Ferguson, Guthrie, Henderson, Ingram, Johnston, Kirkpatrick, Lockhart,
McAdams, Nasmith, O'Rear, Patillo, Quinn, Robertson, Sherer, Thompson,
Umphries, Vines, Young, etc. We don't get many folks with ancestry
from outside the British Isles aroung here. Maybe an occassional
German name like Myers; but for the most part, the people living in
this area can trace their ancestry to places like Ulster, Scotland,
Ireland, Wales and England, with very few exceptions.
