The first question is....did Israel have the right to assault the

I'm thinking that "who did what first" will be really hard to tell.
Both sides can believe their own version, but we may never know. The
way I see it....

Israeli troops assaulted the ships at night because they knew
there was a good chance of resistance and they were aiming for
surprise. They were hoping they would be in control before the crew/
passengers knew what was going on. That definitely didn't work.

Israeli troops met resistance when they boarded. In the dark, a
club, bar, or knife can be deadly. Some Israeli troops were
hurt...about a dozen were hospitalized.

Sometime, the Israelis opened fire and killed and wounded some of
the crew/passengers. The Israelis said they were defending
themselves...the crew/passengers said they were all standing there
peaceably when the Israelis opened fire for no reason.

I believe the Israelis were in danger or thought they were in
danger. These are highly trained troops and not likely to just start
shooting......

The Israelis know they are totaly immune from any repercussions for
their actions. Witness any number of genocidal atrocities carried
out over recent decades.
There are inumerable scientific experiaments and real-life examples
of what happens to the minds of men who know they are immune from
any repercussions for their actions.
They knew *exactly* what they were doing.

One would add that they are immune at this point from even caring
what the world thinks.

Carte Blanche comes to mind.

    They are going to do what they believe is necessary to defend
themselves.....as will pretty much every other nation. In damn near
every army, troops in a combat situation are relatively immune unless
positive proof of wrong-doing is shown. the benefit of the doubt will
pretty much always go with the soldier.

Yep.  I cannot see peace EVER happening in that region.

Well you know n it's a funny old world. I remember telling an East
German lady that they would be friends again with West Germany and she
thought I was mad. it DID happen though and surprised most of the
world. It will happen again after they realise that human life is
nothing special in the universe and that we have much in common
nomatter what country we come from.
