Ah, that's just Adam going on.
He is adorable though, isn't he?
I especially liked the part where, during the coming Recession. we
would
need to buy foodstuffs from the rest of the world.
But he know full well no other nation on earth produces surplus food
crops in the quantity America does.
And we haven't even begun to reach our maximum food output.
Hungry, anyone????

(And for all you Over The Border guys, Canada produces large
quantities
of wheat as well)

Yes but you seem set upon using it as a basis for fuel these days,
while
you watch around half the World's children starving to death, and
spend
vast sums no bombing the hell out of many of them too.

The stupidity of turning corn into fuel is that it takes more energy to
make
than it produces.
(Or so say the experts)
Meanwhile the huge reserves of oil shale just sit there in the US and
Canada, unloved, unwanted, and unused

BTW. how much of Scotland's GNP goes to feed the hungry children of the
world?
And do you have a cite for half the world's children starving to death?
(The man is obviously a recent graduate of the Adam Whyte-Settlar School
of
Factual Manipulations)

UT is experimenting with a strain of lemon grass that has several
times the energy of corn. Being a weed, it needs little care. The only
drawback is that whatever land is used to grow it, can't be used for a
food crop...but that is the same as corn being grown for fuel.

What does the Lemon grass do to the soil?

Not totally sure. My impression was that it didn't need fertilizer
and held the topsoil together much better than corn or cereal crops.
I'll have to look for the article.

I appreciate the info.
I had never heard of turning Lemon grass into fuel until you posted it.
