Oh, I'm not one who thinks that W desreves a peace prize, but then I
don't think Gore does either. In 50 years when the documents are
unsealed, we'll know who all was passed over. As for Reagan, I suspect
peoples in Poland and East Germany and the Eastern European contries
might have a different view of him than we in the west.
Oh I do agree that Gore's Prize is undeserved, particularly in light
of the stories of such as Sir Nicholas Winton and a number of others
as yet unsung and unacknowledged--although the topic of Global Warming
is something (again my opinion) of immediate importance, did Gore get
this award because he was merely more the frontman for the
organization he shared the prize with? Would it have mattered if
someone else was the "face" of the attack on Global Warning?
In human history, most wars have been fought over resources. If GW is real and continues many resources will be lost and the potential for global war increases.
As to Reagan, I am willing to wait for the opinion of someone from
behind the former Iron Curtain who doesn't have a particular political
ax to grind (not you or me, obviously--:) )
Every president since Truman contributed to the downfall of the Soviets but the real cause for it was internal. The USSR couldn't supply the basic requirements for it's people let alone massive armaments. In the early 1960s the CIA estimated that the Soviets had 500 ICBMs pointed at the west (they came to this figure by yanking in directly out of their collective bum). The actual number was not 500 or 100 or even 10, it was four.
Those who claim that Reagan single handedly won the cold war (which ended during the reign of Bush I) are either liars or idiots.
