It wasn't an assertion. It was a question about how we got to this point.
It was also about expressing an appreciation of the good old US of A -
which hasn't been a widely promoted view in these parts for some time!!

To tell you the truth, I think this thread had run its
course a week ago I have no interest in prolonging
a thread just for the sake of it.
I'll catch up with you later, no doubt on some other
issue...or even this one...when it appears to be a
'live' issue on the group.
Even I get bored with this topic. ;-)
