Don't see the problem and never have. It's a good chance to round up
illegal
immigrants. Of course they will be forged eventually but who cares - I
don't
live there anymore!

It didn't stop the 9/11 bombers and it has never stopped the various
London
bombers either. Ask yourself this - how are we to establish our true
identities in order to get an ID card? So if we need to prove who we are
to
get a card why do we need the card?

At last a reasonably reply. Well, as I said earlier, if they are useless
then the only argument against them is that they are a waste of money and
duplicating resources. I may well go with that but why bleat on about
liberties? As for prooving ones ID - well we do that when we get a
passport
so I suppose a similar system. However, with an ID card I would assume
that
a passpost would be no longer required to travel within the EC.

You presume a great deal.
Here are a few facts.

I have a National Insurance number. It was issued just after by birth was
registered.
I have a birth certificate issued just after by birth was registered.
My NI number is used by the government to record my life from birth to the
grave.
They have my school records.
The number is also used to show my taxation records including my earnings
throughout my life when I started working.
It is on my pension records and I draw state and works pensions.
It was used when I was called for military service.
The government cross-reference my tax records with my pension record and
issues the local authority with details of my bank accounts.
They use this to assess my local authority Community Charge.
They have my medical records.
I have a TV licence so they know I have a TV.
My have my blood group and every blood test I have ever had.
I worked for the MOD and they thus have my fingerprints too as I signed the
Official Secrets act.
I worked with Nuclear Radio Active Sources and they have my lifetime
radiation history.
I have a driving Licence and they thus have my full driving history.
They have data if I have a criminal record.
They have details my marriages.
They have data of the children I have fathered.
They will have data on my death certificate.

So just what else do they need to know about me that they do not already
have?
