Society requires simple remedies.
Not all of which will be a cure.
Execution of the offendor is ONE. Yes?
There's some food for thought for you here -

Britain's Jesse Tafero was Timothy Evans, whose subsequent posthumous
"Royal Pardon" after being hanged for a murder John Christie committed
but blamed on Evans, so revolted and disgusted the British public that
the death penalty was abolished for ever.
What benefit is there in having the death penalty brought back, other
than saving the costs of incarceration and helping those in favour of
execution to achieve moral orgasm more easily and frequently?

is far too quick and clean to make much impression on the would be killers.
The only advantages are those of economy and a safeguard against the many
miscarriages of justice. If you think otherwise consider the current case of
the female detective who was accused of leaving a fingerprint at a murder
scene. She was persecuted while the real killer has got off scot free. If
the police can accuse and prove a false case against one of their own what
chance has a genuine innocent got?
Pick any Midlands city and add a number, then ask the Irish. The
Guildford Seven, the Guildford Four, the Maguire Seven - the British
police would have no problem finding work in Mexico...
