I have played and watched enough fitba to know beyond doubt that this is
almost
never the case for there are two teams on a pitch during a game and each
can
only play as well as the other allows them to play. The fact is that the
lesser teams are now not only catching up with the big two but, in some
cases have surpassed them.
Watch the Spartans now....

Scotland League), and just after they were formed.
I was a fairly decent right winger in those days. I had little in the way of
the finer points of that eras wingers but was like a streak of light while
running with a ball, had an accurate cross and a shot like a cannonball.
I was also as hard as nails, and though wee, I stood my ground against far
bigger defenders. If I remember right I went over on my ankle in that game
and ran the length of the pitch and plunged my leg into an ice covered
freezing burn. After a wipe with the magic sponge I carried on with rather a
bad limp. There were no subs in those days and no freezer sprays. Next day I
had one really swelled-up ankle.

I played for Gorgie Hearts (u16) in the late 60s, and for a Jambo like
me, it was a dream coming down the tunnel at Tynecastle. We used to
train on a Thursday night in the old Brown Gymnasium in Tynecastle and
often had John Cumming watching and ready to tear you to pieces if he
thought you weren't trying.
As regards, the Ugly Sisters, I completely agree with you Boab! For too
long, the Bigot Brothers have used their spending power to disrupt
other Scottish teams (£300k for Paul Hartley?) and now that Hearts
have some money, and more importantly, some vision, they're running
scared. The insults are flying and the pundits(?) on Scottish tv
stations just don't know how to react. Just listen to Chic and Andy (a
music hall turn?) to illustrate what i've just said.
The future's bright, the future's MAROON!
