Harwich is only 5-6 hours away from Scotland, and then another 4 hours
(approx) on the boat and you're in Holland. From the Hoek, you can wander
where you will.

By the time you factored in the time taken to get to Dover, and the joys of
the M25, it's easier to head for Harwich (or felixstow if the Zebrugge boat
is still taking passangers)...

I did for the first few years, then the novelty wore off.
