Hillsborough is a kind of sleepy one-horse town that lies on
the main drag about 25 miles from Concord in the centre of
Contoocook, an area bounded by Manchester, Concorde,
Keene and Claremont.
Hillsboro itself is an undistinguished little town of about 6000 people.
it's a working town, where most folks work at the Sylvania light bulb
plant. The town's economy is driven by the automotive industry.
People come and people go in Hillsboro, with new arrivals from
Kansas, Ohio, Pensylvania or a thousand other places.
Maybe the next most important industry is tourism in the
form of hunting, shooting and fishing for some of the
corporate high rollers of Boston. The White Mountains and
Mt Washington are accessible, as is the coast and Rhode Island
70 miles or so to the east.
The town has only recently gained its first supermarket,
had one unreliable taxi and a gossipy little newspaper.
(I think everybody gets their turn to be featured in it.)
Hillsboro is as American as denim jeans and work shirts,
and the pace is slow and Old Glory is the only flag in town.

It just so happens that the Attitash winter festval starts
today http://www.attitash.com/ and snow is plentiful right
now. A skier's dream I would think.
Me....I'll just mosey on down to the Moose Club or the
Legion, where a guy I know recites Ralph Waldo Emerson's
poetry like it was written for him.
