Oh really? Then I do expect that there will be some fireworks here;
most of my folks have bulled their way through life shouting "Nemo me
impune lacessit" at the top of their respective lungs for a while (for
example my uncle was a career Marine non-commissioned officer who would
tick off most of his comrades by strolling around the post playing
bagpipes very late at night, stopping under windows belonging to people
who had pissed him off for some reason during the daylight hours--he
said it helped him to relax), and I think I can hold my own in
situations like that. We shall see.

I wouldn't say that--Andy Griffith is from my neck of the woods, and he
is a dark Welshman, and I think it matters a bit that he is both Welsh
and a Carolinian--my mother's folks, who are more from this area have
some Welsh but are descended from *** Cockneys, stray French
Hugenots and Ulster Scots, or "Scotch-Irish" as we call them here.

Quite all right--I do plan to be around here for some time--my
Scot-Canadian brother-in-law who is surnamed Macsparran (and will punch
out anyone who calls him "Scotty") declares that he is "exiled" on the
North American continent--he himself emigrated to Ontario when he was
twelve--and so his wife, my sister Fannie, and myself, being the family
cooks, have attempted to prepare national Scottish dishes that he might
appreciate--how many ways can you cook oatmeal?--one of these days I'll
have to tell you the story about "Macsparran's Flying Haggis".

As in what's the first sound a Scot hears when he loses his virginity?
