Fal(l)kirk - the place where the church fell down

Our very own Craig Cockburn had his three minutes of fame tonight on Radio
Scotland on Scottishness and being proud, loud and extolling our own
culture, which I have to agree, has morphed into something else. I didnt
have time you ask my own weans what being Scottish meant to them but inline
with Craigs's opinions, they do get to know plenty about other events and
cultures other than their own. That in itself is no bad thing and is to be
encouraged of course and I may be jumping the gun. I shall find out when I
ask them.
Another point raised by Craig was the proliferation of gaelic place names
which the person in the street is by and large unaware of, Falkirk,
Gleneagles and even Dalry got a mention. Quite by chance I stumbled across
an interesting site providing a decent list of Scottish/Gaelic place names
and derivations. I cant find it now, so if someone out there has a link to
something useful post it here.
Well done Craig, it came across nicely.
Kevin.
