Re: Hand that destroys the Garden - II

Yesterday I tried to make it clear that the world today is a much
more interwined and complex place. Exploitation of less developed
nations is common place.
The terms of trade of poor nations have continuously declined over a
period of 50 years and
value of their currency has consistantly fallen. The powerful
nations have tried to destablize
world by setting one nation against the other, so that sales of arms
could flourish.
Weapons of destructions have been sold to some very poor nations at
exhorbitantly high prices . The
international finance is a weapon of oppression. The countries which
obey their
dictation are given plenty of loans and an appearnce of false
affluence and the ones who refuse
and try to become self sufficient are punished by denying even modest
needs and thus creating the scenario of a failed nation.

Under these circumstances it was necessary that the public
at
large are involved in the policy making of the country so that
dictations from super powers
could be resisted. An effort is also necessary to unite the Less
developed countries
(LDCs) to protect their interests. It is a well known fact that rich
countries are getting
richer and poor are becoming more poor, due to an international
conspiracy of Jewery to dominate
the world politics. It is strange that people of Europe and Latin
America have understood
their game and have arranged huge demonstrations against
globalization. But people of Bangladesh,Pakistan and India, who are
far more poor to tolerate further exploitation have virtually shown
no interest in getting rid of the exploitative system. No sizable
demos have taken place in these countries to show public hatred of
the
masses, lending credence to the theory that our rulers are tools of
exploitation in the hands of fiancial powers.

How senseless and selfish dictorial regimes become is
beyond
the imagination of common man. People of a poor country like
Pakistan have been spending
one billion dollars since last many years on importing mobile
phones. The charges paid to
service providers are extra. But nobody in the government thought to
talk to one or two
companies to establish manufacturing facility in Pakistan so that
its educated youth could
find jobs and government saved foreign exchange. If they refused,
import of that brand could
have been banned in the country. The service providers such as
mobilink,Ufone and alwarid have at one end
exploited the masses by overcharging the common man and not
honouring their own terms and
on the other they were instrumental in spreading vulgarity and shamelesseness by showing
Ads on the media which do not suit our cultural values. Neither in Bnagladesh nor in Pakistan,
young boys and girls can dance on the streets holding hands .This shamelessness is either
European or Indian. But such Ads were continuously shown and the authorities turned a blind
eye to them.

Our countries have been blessed with immense resources, but
no attempt is being made
to harness these for the benefit of the common man. For example, both Panjab and Sind grow
sugarcane in large quantity. Sugar production reaches hundreds of thousands of tons. But
they let the waste thus produced burned as fuel. Although good quality paper could be produced
from it and our paper needs could be met from domestic production, saving us foreign exchange,
but nobody bothers to think for the nation. They are happy and content with the bribes
they receive from Sugar mill owners. No wonder almost all politicians of PPP and Muslim League
are sugar Mill owners, including Chaudhry Shujaat, Mian Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari. These
heartless people delay paymenent of sugar cane farmers until the next season and even then
pay in installments whereas they make lot of money by raising sugar prices every year. The
delay to purchase the cane so that it dries up and is reduced in weight. Such exploitation
is going on unchecked even 60 years after independence.

A large scale mass movement therefore is necessary to
emancipate hapless masses from army generals and their stooge
politicians. An entire new leadership should arise from the
youth of the country. Only well educated, sincere and honest leaders
can deliver good governance. Let us find such people amongst us and
fast! For a quick
fix I recommend Imran Khan. He is energetic, enthusiastic, since
and has qualities of
leadership.
