Westerners, (and women especially), should take just a moment out of
thier lives and learn about this seldom discussed but common Islamic
practice. Wikipedia has a good artcile, and the Ayatollah Khomeini wrote
a book on the subject that has been translated to Engish and is
available on Amazon.com. In brief, here is what Mufa?Khathat is, quoting
from Wikipedia.com:

"A man can marry a girl younger than nine years of age, even if the girl
is still a baby being breastfed. A man, however is prohibited from
having intercourse with a girl younger than nine, while other sexual
acts such as foreplay, rubbing, and kissing are allowed. A man having
intercourse with a girl younger than nine years of age has not committed
a crime, but only an infraction, if the girl is not permanently damaged.
If the girl, however, is permanently damaged, the man must provide for
her all her life. But this girl will not count as one of the man's four
permanent wives. He also is not permitted to marry the girl's
sister."


Khomeini specifically described an act known as thighing that allowed an
adult male to simulate sex with a female child without penetration:


"Thighing is a means for an adult male to enjoy a young girl who is
still in the age of weaning; meaning to place his penis between her
thighs, and to kiss her."


"It is better for a girl to marry in such a time when she would begin
menstruation at her husband's house rather than her father's house. Any
father marrying his daughter so young will have a permanent place in
heaven."

Nothing has changed! Media is blindly busy in publicizing what it is
paid to publicize. The change is in the air, but is it a change
really?. Musharraf has been in power since last 8 years. Benazir was
in power for two stints before. Nawaz Sharif is coming, so what. He
was here for two terms as prime minister.

The selective justice is underway. While cases against Sharif brothers
are being revived, those against Ms Benazir are being withdrawn or
are not being contested in the courts. Nobody seems to worry about
people. The poor and the hapless who do not have jobs because of the
uncertainties created by weakening of Musharraf's hold on power .
Fishing in the troubled waters the traders have raised the prices.
Bureaucrats are issuing SROs facilitating imports and making locally
manufactured goods less attractive. Assemblies exist but no business
is being transacted. Every thing has come to a stand still because of
the
uncertainty. No new factories are being installed nor businesses are
being set up.Thousands of enthusiastic students are coming out of
universities looking for jobs. Who will provide them with the
employment?

The incompetence, rather insincerity of our army generals is evident
from the fact that they never plan the endgame. Past generals and
kings used to kill the existing kings and their nearest relatives so
that they could not stage a come back. But our generals keep them
alive so that they can show the public that if they go the old rulers
would come back. Unfortunately this is actually happening. USA and EU
have pressured the military regime to accept Ms Benazir as his partner
so that a semblance of legitimacy could be shown and Musharraf
could continue implementing American agenda in Pakistan.

The media reports the events but keeps a lid on the outcome. People
want to know what is going to happen, but they only see unrelated and
meaningless commentaries of what is happening. As the patience of
common man is running out, let me attempt to show what is going to
happen.

Even blind can see that Benazir Bhutto has been appointed as the next
Prime Minister of Pakistan, no matter whom the people vote. As Nawaz
Sharif got heavy mandate with the help of the establishment, so shall
Ms Benazir. So much for the value of the comman man's vote. Indeed
Sharif Brothers and Benazir Inc are true stake holders, but MMA
leaders are also bent upon fishing in the troubled waters. Fazlur
Rahman's ambition of becoming Prime Minister and Qazi Husain Ahmed's
meaningful silence are indicative of a compromise. Only Imran Khan
remains to give a clarion call to the Nation to ask its political
leadership not to discuss the mode of transition alone. But joint
council of all notable political parties should be convened who should
suggest free and fair elections under an independent election
commission. An interim government should take over and no deals
between the powers that be and any single political party should be
allowed. Musharraf and his coteries have completed their term and let
them be consigned to dustbin of the history as soon as possible.

How long they will continue testing the nerves of the common man?
