Robert,
the differences that we here normally discuss can be shown in following
scenarios from real life:
If you are travelling by tram or bus in Gothenburg it's more likely than not
that you get a smile and a word in return if you talk to the one sitting
next to you.
If you do the same in Norrköping you can't bet on it and in some areas
around Stockholm I have been told that people might look upon you as if you
are crazy or drunk when talking to a stranger.

If you go to a bar or a pub here in Gothenburg you shouldn't be surprised if
someone asks if they are allowed to sit down at the same table if the
bar/pub is crowded.

Hardly ever happens in many other parts of Sweden.
