Jailed for injecting blood into woman

A CAMBODIAN man was jailed yesterday for injecting a woman with his own blood
after she spurned his romantic advances, police said.
Lonn Sopheaktra, 22, was arrested on Tuesday, a day after he injured a
21-year-old woman with a syringe in the town of Battambang, said provincial
police official Tan Sophal.
The man allegedly injected a syringe filled with his own blood into the woman's
rib cage and waist as she was riding a motorbike to school, he said.
"It is an unprecedented case," the police official said by telephone.
"He confessed that he injected her with his blood because he loves her so much,
but she refused his love," he said. "The man hinted that if he could not have
her, at least his blood would stay inside her body."
The woman has been advised to take anti-AIDS drugs as a precaution against
possible infection, although the authorities were not sure if the man was
infected with HIV or any other disease. AFP
