Tajudin in counterclaim against TM, others for nearly RM13.5b

TAN Sri Tajudin Ramli has served a defence and counterclaim against Telekom Malaysia
Bhd (TM) and other parties for close to RM13.5 billion.
In a statement to Bursa Malaysia, TM said it has been served a copy of Tajudin's
defence and counterclaim dated June 29 2006.
TM's subsidiaries named in Tajudin's counterclaim are Telekom Enterprise Sdn Bhd,
Celcom (Malaysia) Bhd, and Technology Resources Industries Bhd.
The other parties include the Malaysian Government, Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional
Bhd, Danaharta Urus Sdn Bhd and Danaharta Managers Sdn Bhd, Commerce International
Merchant Bankers Bhd, Datuk Azman Yahya, Datuk Abdul Hamidy Hafiz, Datuk Zukri Samat
and/or Datuk Kris Azman Abdullah.
Celcom had earlier sued nine former directors, including Tajudin, to recover some
RM880 million that it lost in a lengthy legal battle.
Early this year, the mobile phone operator had to pay that amount to DeTeAsia
Holdings GmbH, a unit of Deutsche Telekom, after a slew of overseas legal suits by
the German phone firm forced Celcom's hands.
TM said it is studying Tajudin's defence and counterclaim and a further announcement
will be made on any material development.
