Israel has responded in a very aggressive fashion to the provocation of
kidnapping of an Israeli soldier.

Be accurate. They dug a tunnel into Israel, attacked an Israeli army
post in Israel, killed two Israeli soldiers, and kidnapped a third,
not to hold him as a PW, but to try to use him as a bargaining chip
for members of Hamas who are imprisoned in Israeli jails and detention
centers. One can approve or disapprove of those actions and still
describe them accurately. In terms of the rest of the description, you
could say that Israel is responding to an act of aggression by Hamas;
it all depends on your outlook.

It has in return kidnapped over 30
Palestinian parliamentarians [the American press is describing this
action as "arrested"]

Here again, you could use the terms "detained" or "captured," both of
which seem to me to be undeniably accurate. These Hamas politicians
can be considered members of a terrorist organization which has lately
been involved in attempting to kill, wound, or destroy the property of
civilians in Sderot, Israel, and other parts of the Negev by lobbing
hundreds of relatively ineffective but still sometimes lethal missiles
from Gaza.

in addition to bombing bridges, shooting cars,
power plants and sending tanks across the Israel-Gaza border....To read

Answer to the querstion "Is the Middle East Exploding?":

Not in Israel/Palestine. That conflict is very small potatoes compared
to what goes on in Iraq every day. And is the Sudan part of the Middle
East, because if you consider it to be, well then...
