Used-car dealers brace for further drop in prices
By Arman Ahmad and Sim Bak Heng
Some with stocks of hundreds of cars are now in dire straits, as the
marketplace slowly readjusts to compensate for lower prices of new cars.
The slower it takes to adjust, the more people will wait and see and the
dealers will go kaput, bwahahaha !!
"A 2001 Proton Waja now sells in the region of RM35,000. We used to
sell it for more than RM40,000," he said.
When it finally gets to about 28K I"ll finally get to buy one reasonably,
since I've always like the engineering of this model. In fact, this is
about the only model that I've ever felt was a good deal. Too bad it was
lousy in sales
"Proton cars, especially, have lost their value," he said.
They never had any value in the first place. People were buying the Protons
because the Govt made everything else that was value for money, too
expensive for people to own. Remove the barriers, and people don't have to
buy turd anymore It's as simple as that.
Car dealer Melvin Wong said sales of second-hand cars had already been
dropping since January due to poor demand, and most dealers were unable
to clear their stocks.
Well, your business will improve, if you all can tahan until 2010 when the
APs are frozen to prevent the bringing in of used cars from abroad
In fact, you used cars dealers, might actually want to start badgering the
Govt to stop issuing APs for used cars to come in, starting tomorrow. The
earlier the APs are frozen, the faster your used car values will go up
.
