It looks like IOI did not provide adequate drainage for the mall hence the
flooding.

Shoppers rush to save vehicles at flooded car park
By BEH YUEN HUI
SUBANG JAYA: Shoppers at the IOI Mall in Puchong rushed to ?rescue? their
cars on hearing that the car park was flooded during an evening downpour.
Some managed to move their vehicles out in time while others who came
later found that water had seeped into their cars.
The rain, which started around 4.30pm yesterday, lasted about three hours.
By 6pm, the water level at the mall's outdoor car park had risen to about
0.6m. There were some 100 vehicles parked there at that time.
The mall's management made the announcement through the public address
system and triggered the mad rush for the car park.
An optical shop manager, Y. C. Yap, said muddy water had entered his car
when he reached his Proton Waja.
?I had difficulty starting my car initially. The alarm system and lights
failed to work,? said Yap who was still at the car park around 9pm.
Another car owner, who only wanted to be identified as Lam, said he
managed to drive his Proton Wira out from the flooded area after hearing
the announcement.
However, he said the car seats and floor mats were already wet when he got
to the car.
Meanwhile, a waitress at a fast food outlet said about 2.5cm of water
entered the restaurant.
Opposite the mall, part of the retaining wall of the Puchong police
station collapsed during the thunderstorm. Fortunately, no one was
injured.
The mall?s management could not be reached for comments at press time.
