It's simple, can't afford the fuel? Don't (be allowed to) buy a car!

When he bought the car, he could afford the fuel. Now with the price
increase he can't.

If you have that little marging in your pockets, don't buy the car. Prices
went up, yes, but not to the extend where the same money doesn't buy you any
fuel anymore, just less. Everyone want to jump on the train of progress,
nobody is willing to pay the price. I think it's a poor excuse and wearing
very thin.

Let me give you an example. My fuel bills used to be RM700- RM900 a month. Now it's RM1300 RM1500 a month. A RM600 -RM800 increase. How big a margin is that? Though I do feel a large amount of pain, I can still handle it.

Would it be reasonable to expect that a RM600 to RM800 would give a great deal of pain to a majority of people? Would it be reasonable to budget for a RM600 - RM800 margin? Just how much RM is a little margin and when do we draw the line to it becoming an unbearable margin?

If someone did budget for a RM500 margin but still couldn't afford the increases in fuel, I guess you would still condemn him for not budgeting for a bigger margin. Basically I think you just think that the fuel increases of 40% to 100% are not justifiable grounds for people to complain no matter what.

1. Can't take it, dont buy the car.

2. Oh so you bought the car? Well serves you right for not allowing a margin.

3. Allowed a RM500 margin? Well serves you right for not allowing a RM600 margin.

4. Budgeted for a RM600 margin? Well serves you right for not budgeting for a RM100 margin.

Just when does the excuses become justified? Readers will be able to judge for themselves which of our viewpoints are more reasonable. It's all subjective.

Until the time comes when he has exhausted all his savings and has to
sell off his car, I think he has a right to air his grievances.

Carpool... run 1 car with 4 people instead of 4 people with 4 cars. I see
the smallest of motorbikes with whole families on it, 4 people including
groceries all on a tiny bike. Why not do this with cars?

You live in KL? You know the traffic situation? Do you think it's feasible to pick up 4 different people from 4 different locations and still make it to work on time? Well yeah, probably if the designated driver woke up at 4 am to go pick up the first guy. Then considering that was achieved, we now come to the fun part, sending all of them back after work.
