Fuel gone up another 30 sen/litre today.
And today Maybank comes out with the "good news" that BLR & deposit rates
are
going up:
http://www.theedgedaily.com/cms/content.jsp?id=com.tms.cms.article.Article_abce1bd9-cb73c03a-1bc4ec80-e9b760d7
"Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) has revised its base lending rate (BLR) to
6.5% per annum from 6.25% per annum with effect from Feb 28.
In a statement on Feb 27, it said interest rates for deposits would also
be
revised upwards by up to 0.15%.
This is the second time Maybank has raised its deposit rates since
December
2005, it said.
The last revision saw the rates for all its deposit products and balances
being increased by up to 0.25%, it said.
"The new deposit rates will be increased simultaneously with the revised
BLR
to enable customers to concurrently enjoy a higher return on their
deposits,"
Maybank said.
"For fixed deposits over a longer tenure, customers will also enjoy more
savings in view that the fixed deposit rates have been increased by
0.10%,"
it added. "
So, BLR is going up 0.25% - guaranteed that all housing loans tied to BLR
will also go up 0.25%.
The interesting thing in the fine print is that FD rates will only be
going
up by "up to" 0.15%, with mention further on of only 0.10%.
Is it not enough that all the banks are making obscene amounts of money,
but
that they also don't pass on the full amount of the BLR increase to their
deposit customers?
