Haze:Asean cooperation means never having to say you're sorry

After the haze of 1997 this should not have happened. An apology from
Indonesia is too little too late. I can't believe that with all the
"canggih" technology, satellite monitoring and past resolve to
cooperate on haze prevention we have not managed to tackle the hotspots
before they threatened our health and economy. Why send the SMART team
now when the whole situaton is so out of control. They would have been
more effective in the early stages.

Isn't it ironic that the haze occurs just as we are about to hold a
major travel fair? Who wants to come to Malaysia or even asean
countries now? I was sad to see CNN and BBC featuring the
haze-enveloped Twin Towers. Asean countries must cooperate fast to nip
this problem. And if Malaysian companies are indeed to blame for the
forest fires they need to take the rap and soon.
