Suspect Caught in Rome Admits to Carrying Bomb on Train

Assuming there is a tiny speck of truth hidden away in this, duh, story.

"A suspect in the failed July 21 bombings arrested in Rome on Friday [the
29th] confessed to investigators to carrying a bomb through London's subway,
but claimed it was meant as a 'demonstration' rather than to kill.."

....the one word "demonstration" is the main clue to what it is.

"The way things were happening [in 1968] recalled the early 1960s
situationist movement that began in poetry and turned political.

"They called themselves situationists, after the belief that one had only to
create a situation and step back and things would happen." [2]

What might that mean specifically?

"Columbia SDS, looking for an event to restart the movement, came up with
the idea of hosting a student international, but from the outset it was a
disaster."

One reason:

"The French situationists [among the European students] spent the second day
[of the conference] doing parodies of everyone who spoke." [3]

Doing parodies.

That's the clue that explains the meaning of the main clue:
"demonstraton."

The Provos, a group of Dutch situationists, set themselves the task of
"provoking violent responses from authorities using non-violent bait."

The Provos were founded May 25, 1965 and disbanded May 13, 1967.

In those two years the Provos "gained world-prominence" and made perfect
fools of Dutch cops. (Scroll down to "Provos
and Dutch monarchy" at [4] below.)

The July 21 Provos in Puppet-uk have had a much easier time of it making
perfect fools of The Poodle's Puplitical Police.
