The reason was to get place for the Hungarians deported from Slovakia. The important thing was to prevent the rebirth of the Great Hungary, and for this preformed an etnik cleansing. The majority of the Donauswaben had nothing to do with the war, it is interesting how fast the German identity was dimninished between 1920 and 1941. in thousands the persons whose native language was German diminished from 55 119 to 475 491 between 1920 and 1941. It is interesting that in 1941 only 302 198 person declared himself as German nationality.
