Hunyadis origin is not very well documentated. But it's almost sure he
was
not the son of Sigismund, but Sreba, a vallachian local leader (vajda),
who
flied to Transsylvania and Sigismund gave him Hunyad. ( A small town
with
a fortress) So he was rather a Vallachian descent, not Austrian. The
name
suggests som serbian(?) connection?

Looks like we have a man of mystery. If he was not of Hungarian descent then
I am rather intrigued over his passion to defend Hungary. He was a very
wealthy man and did not have to act as a soldier. Then also, Sigismund, in
later years had an intense desire for Hungry. Then also, we find Matthias
also trying to attain the crown of Germany. I'm not too quick to agree that
Hunyadi's origins are not documented, perhaps not documented for a reason.
Why "mystery"???? Why not the obviouse reason: at that time they
did not have the administration what we have today?
And to defend Hungary was not his passion but his DUTY. All nobles
had the unconditional duty to fight for his king when he called. And
Matyas
did not try to attain "the crown of Germany" since there was nothing
like "the crown of Germany". There was no country like Germany at all.
I really doubt that you know what you are talking about.

Don't blame me...I'm only qouting from a highly educated Hungarian aspect of history. But seeing that you know the history...and there was no Germany...where did Sigismund spent most of his time?

"In Germany as in the rest of Europe, the 15th century was a time of transition from the land economy of the Middle Ages to the money economy of modern times. The process created painful tensions among all classes of society".

Page of the Gutenberg Bible The Gutenberg Bible was the result of the invention of movable type by Johann Gutenberg in about 1450-1456. The combination of papermaking and movable type made it possible to produce a number of these Bibles. The increase in Bibles and other printed works made it possible for a greater number of Germans to read, leading to great changes in the early 16th century.

Encyclopedias seem to think their was a Germany.
I'm scratching my head :-(
Make sure you have the latest service pack installed. :-D

I don't think I have any of the packs...
but I got the latest model and no problem.

I didn't really mean it. I was just kidding. I intended to make fun of Microsoft.
