Sfeir's US visit

Cardinal Sfeir is scheduled to meet with W. tomorrow (Wednesday). At a
time when not even the Republican nominee (McCain) is willing to be
seen in public with W., why is the Patriarch meeting with him? I hope
his advisers have arranged meetings with Clinton, Obama, Pelosi and
McCain. There's a point of view that needs to be conveyed here:
Lebanon, with the spirit of democracy, freedom and independence
running through its veins, does not wish to be a satellite to any
external powers, be that the US, Iran, or the Assad regime. Lebanon
will be the US's best friend, but it would help the US's foreign
policy greatly if Lebanon is given the help it needs, without the
appearance of owing something, other than a commitment to democracy,
freedom and peace. W and his clique do not strike me as people who
understand this. McCain may (but not sure), Clinton says that she
does, but is probably willing to sell any cause down the river in
return for the right political payoff, and Obama seems as if he
understands it, but may lack proper understanding of the power brokers
in the Middle East.
