The plotting of crimes by Assad and his gang is nonstop. This is their
way
of settling disputes. So far they have managed to get away with their
crimes only because there was no power to stop them and the fact that
some
of teh countries around favor keeping the regime with the mistaken belief
that a weak Assad regime is better than the alternative. Such a
shortsighted assessment has clouded the fact that a democratic regime in
Syria is better for peace and stability and more importantly, it is
possible
to achieve. The UN court must be speeded up to drag the criminals to
court
else the crimes will continue unabted.
The Syrian Government has committed
crimes against its own people, so what would stop it from doing so
against Lebanese people. People often try to point at Israel when
bombings occur, but if the authorities in Damascus can kill their own
so easily, why wouldn't they kill Lebanese politicians who disagree.
I am not saying they are definitely guilty, but the evidence from the
UN investigation seems to point in that direction and Rafiq Al Hariri
even said he was threatened by Damascus. A threat makes a party
suspect. His son is saying there is evidence that Syria is trying to
kill him as well and Fouad Seniora. If this is the case, Syria does
not like Lebanese politicians who don't follow their diktat.
It is not in Syria's interest, in the end, to have a government
dominated by Hezbollah. It would backfire for them....
Syria knows well that Hizballah's loyalty is to Iran. Syria is a secondary
and not primary interest of Hizballah.
