I am a proud Israeli, and I know this is not the only side of the
conflict, but I hope I will be able to help this people somehow.
Yes, practically most Palestinians living n Lebanon, were born in Lebanon.
Yet, due to the inhumane treatment of the Palestinains by the Lebanese, they
live in severly blighted areas prevented from holding many jobs and denied
economic opportunites. All this is done because of the secterian cancer
Lebanon has. Yet, millions of Lebanese immigrated and are living abroad
treated as human beings in host countries when the irony is that the
Lebanese themselves are very bad hosts to refugees in Lebanon and worse,
they are denying them the opportunity to progress economically. This is a
medieval mentality that prevails in Lebanon's government, leaders and
officials. This must change. I wonder if other countries treat Lebanese
just like the Lebanese treat the Palestinains (like animals that is), how
will the Lebanese respond. I guess I know, they will still try to
rationalize their primitive beahvior
It's really unfair to place the blame squarely on the Lebanese. The
prohibition on jobs was lifted by the Sanyoura government. That lives
the miserable living conditions. What Lebanon did is treat the
Palestinians the same way it treated the rest of the underpriviliged
Lebanese population: left them to their own devices. There are plenty
of Christian and Muslim villages and areas in Lebanon that fared no
better than Palestinian refugees: no sewer, no water, no electricity,
no roads, no public schools, etc. The truth is that there was no
social welfare system for all of Lebanon, Palestinian refugees
included.
The finger should be pointed in the direction of the PLO, and the
proud Arab regimes that spread $B's on arming the Palestinians and
constructing fortresses like Nahr El Bared and Tal Zaatar, propaganda,
and lining up Arafat's (and cronies) pockets. This money should have
gone toward educating and supporting the Palestinian refugees. From
the perspective of the average Lebanese citizen, that's where the
blame should be placed. Period. If you're not convinced, then talk to
any person in a poor village in Akkar, Mount Lebanon, Northern Lebanon
or Southern Lebanon. Facts, not fiction please!
