Ayatollah Ali Khameni said that the Shiite Crescent is a myth invented by
Iran's enemies. Arab leaders and Lebanese leaders should view this as an
opening to find out more about Iran's intention. If Iran is not interested
in dominating other countries and does believe in coexistence, this should
be an opportunity to work with Iran and not view as an adversary. Closer
relations with Iran can only help to achieve a stable Middle East,
strengthen Moslem unity and encourage trade and economic development in an
area of the world that has lots of oil money but very underdeveloped. Dubai
has provided us with a model where free enterprise, fixation on economic
development not politics can bring more prosperity, wealth and liberty. The
Middle East has a working model and does not need to import models that have
proved to be disastrous in Iraq. We have to start looking at the
development of the Middle East with the all key countries in the area. It
is wrong to miss this opportunity by contiuning the status quo of viewing
Iran as a hostile country just because it is not an Arab country. We ned to
start thinking about improving the standard of living, form a trading bloc
like the rest of the world is doing, else the rest of the world is very
happy to see us constantly busy fighting each other while they are happy
selling us their goods.
I really like to see a Lebanese delegation from the March 14 go to Iran to
meet with Ali Khameni and Ahamedinijad to explore their real intentions and
break through the existing secterian relationship with Iran which is
currently monopolized by Hizballah. This will also contribute to Lebanon's
stability.
