Woody, if the IDF were captured inside Lebanon territory, as the press
reported, as opposed to the official Israeli line, wasn't it legitimate
for Hezbollah to attack that unit and capture the soldiers?

[ The only occupied territory Israel had before Hezbollah
took those two soldiers was Cheba'a, which was arguably Lebanese
territory. These soldiers were not taken from Cheba'a. They were
taken from the Golan area. That means Syrian territory and not
Lebanese territory. Anyway, Syria has been arming Hezbollah and is
doing so as we speak. Hezbollah and the Syrian government do not care
for the Lebanese oppostion and Fouad Seniora and that is why Rafiq Al
Hariri was asassinated. Anyway, who doesn't fit their larger goals of
the Shia sectarian vision and Syrian Ba'ath axis reaching to Iran, is
in danger. Of course, unless you are Jumblatt and hiding in your
fortress and surrounding yourself with loyal people. But that
shouldn't be the way of Lebanon. Lebanon is basically the wild east
and it is controlled by puppet masters. Of course, the people and the
politicians can put it back together, if they choose. There is always
a choice. Israel does not want to annex land up to the Litani. They
can't hold Lebanese territory for a very long time. They could but
they would lose too many soldiers, naturally, because a standing army
has predictable movements and there is no green zone and the Israeli
soldiers would be targeted easily and you don't need to be Hezbollah
and extremely seasoned to take them out. They are like the American
revolutionary fighters against the red coasts except Hezbollah cannot
really defeat Israel.

I don't want war, you don't want war, no ones want war. Hizbolla,
Syria, and Iran are the only ones who want war with Israel. Israel has
no sympathy to chirstians or whatever, they just want to achieve their
goal which is to wipe out hizbollah.

I disagree. The primary, understated aim of Israel seems to anexing the
Lebanese territory up to the Litani, and thus add more 30km2 to their
entity, complete with excellent water resources. I'm sure that Hezbollah
and all the Lebanese will manage to expell that venereal disease of Israel
yet again from Lebanon, this time hopefully with a good deterrent against
any future adventurisms of the sort on the part of the Israelis.
