Sheikh Qassem: Sharafeddine's teachings are guidelines for tackling today's
political, social and communal conflicts

Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem honored the late Imam
Abdel-Hussein Sharafeddine during the opening session Wednesday of an
International Congress to Honor Sharafeddine in Beirut. Sheikh Qassem said
the Imam's teaching and thoughts are relevant as guidelines for tackling
today's political, social and communal conflicts.

The event marks the commemoration of 50 years since the death of
Sharafeddine, an influential Lebanese Shiite imam who called for unity among
Muslims and preached against sectarianism while mobilizing Muslims and Arabs
to resist Western colonial powers during the French and British mandates and
two world wars. Various intellectuals, clerics and political figures have
participated and will participate in the three-day remembrance that will
continue till Friday.
