if my previous experience on scl (from some 10 years ago) has taught me
anything, it's that you don't always have to fight fire with fire.

this woman is speaking to the closed-minded in the moslem faith
(letting them have it) as well as the closed-minded in in the
non-moslem faiths (making them happy). but the closed-minded anywhere
are mostly a hopeless case no matter how you talk to them. as for the
rest, maybe the open-minded moslems may take her comments at face
value, but those who are in the middle, ready to be pushed to either
side, may be lost in the battle.

style matters as much as substance, I firmly believe that a genuine
inter-religious call for reform and renaissance within all religions
and especially in islam would do much more good than this woman's
diatribe.

I'm starting to believe that this applies even when it comes to talking
about aoun (peace be upon him) and lahoud (allah la ywaff'o). maybe
between their army followers and their sectarian fans there are some
who are not hopeless cases.
