There are alternate definitions of sect as well in Lebanon.. It can refer to ethnic background.. Copts are recognized, as well Armenians.. Many people do not consider theselves of ethnic Arab's while others embrace that identity.. You can belong to a sect and not consdier yourself religous (in the world of Lebanon)
